Study Shows Increase in US Bariatric Procedures

bariatricIn a recent study posted in Novation’s 2012 Bariatric Report, the GPO reported that of their member facilities polled, 74% saw an increase in the number of bariatric surgeries performed in the prior 18 months. Bariatric medicine has become ever more prevalent as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that 36% of US adults and 17% of children are obese, and those numbers are projected to grow well into the future.

Omega Medical Imaging has seen this rapid increase in patient population and understands the needs of the diverse group of physicians that work with bariatric patients. We have recently released two key products to help serve the bariatric market: a 700 lbs extra wide endoscopy table, and our e-View MP (Multi-Purpose).

Our 700lbs Heavy Lift table is a motorized 10-way table that can be used by itself or with our standard e-View GI / ERCP c-arm system. With a 30” wide carbon fiber tabletop, minimally invasive bariatric surgery can be performed with ease.

The e-View MP is designed to add additional functionality to your bariatric practice, allowing you to perform all of the same procedures as the e-View can, with the added functionality to perform interventional pain management on bariatric patients. The 700lbs Heavy Lift table comes standard on this configuration, so you will not have any issues with positioning or having the appropriate x-ray power to get through even the largest of patients.

As our population gets larger and larger, prevention and education is of paramount importance; being prepared to take on these patients and their needs is another key element to managing the healthcare delivery process. Let Omega Medical Imaging be your destination for bariatric endoscopy and pain management!
