AdventHealth Tampa Expands Advanced Digestive Care with Omega

AdventHealth Tampa continues its commitment to advanced, patient-centered digestive care with the installation of Omega Medical Imaging E-View.AI systems at its Center for Interventional Endoscopy.

The Center for Interventional Endoscopy at Tampa brings highly specialized expertise and minimally invasive treatment options closer to patients throughout Tampa Bay and West Florida. Modeled after AdventHealth Orlando’s nationally recognized Center for Interventional Endoscopy, the Tampa center combines advanced technology with a compassionate, multidisciplinary approach to treating complex gastrointestinal conditions.

The center’s interventional gastroenterologists use advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques to treat diseases involving the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, bile ducts, and other areas of the digestive system. These procedures can provide alternatives to major surgery, helping preserve organs, reduce recovery times, and allow many patients to return home the same day.

“Since starting my career in gastroenterology, I’ve witnessed firsthand how these therapeutic endoscopic procedures have transformed patient care,” said Hafiz Muzaffar Akbar Khan, MD, Medical Director of the Center for Interventional Endoscopy at AdventHealth Tampa. “At CIE, our core mission is providing compassionate, whole-patient care utilizing a multidisciplinary approach that best fits our patients’ needs and preferences.”

The center provides a comprehensive range of advanced procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound, complex endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic resection of precancerous and cancerous lesions, and minimally invasive treatments for motility disorders. Its physicians also work closely with surgeons and other specialists across AdventHealth Tampa and the West Florida Division to coordinate care for patients with complex digestive conditions.

For procedures requiring X-ray guidance, the addition of Omega’s E-View.AI systems strengthens the team’s ability to perform complex interventions with advanced imaging technology developed specifically for the needs of interventional endoscopy.

Unlike conventional fluoroscopy systems adapted from other clinical specialties, the E-View.AI was purpose-built for ERCP and advanced image-guided endoscopic procedures. The platform combines a large field-of-view flat-panel detector, an ERCP-specific patient table, integrated scatter radiation protection, and AI-enabled Region of Interest imaging technology.

This technology automatically identifies the area of clinical interest and uses ultrafast collimation to block unnecessary radiation at the source. In published clinical research, the system has been shown to reduce radiation exposure while maintaining excellent visualization and preserving procedural workflow.

The installation reflects AdventHealth Tampa’s focus on bringing advanced digestive care, clinical innovation, and minimally invasive treatment options to patients throughout West Florida. By combining specialized physician expertise with purpose-built imaging technology, the Center for Interventional Endoscopy is helping patients receive complex care closer to home while supporting faster recovery and improved comfort.

Omega is proud to support the physicians and staff of AdventHealth Tampa’s Center for Interventional Endoscopy as they expand access to advanced, image-guided digestive care across the Tampa Bay region.
